Cash-Strapped Go First Airlines Extends Cancellation of Flight Operations Till May 30

GoFirst Airlines said in a statement that passengers will be given full refunds for all canceled flights till May 30.

Cash-strapped GoFirst Airlines announced on Saturday that its flight operations will be suspended until May 30, with full refunds to passengers.

“We regret to inform you that due to operational reasons, Go First flights scheduled till May 30, 2023 have been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the flight cancellation,” the airline said in a statement.

“A full refund will be issued soon on the original mode of payment,” it added.

Earlier this week, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday advised airlines to come up with a comprehensive restructuring plan for sustainable revival of operations within a period of 30 days.

“The airline has been asked to provide, inter alia, availability status of operational aircraft fleet, required post holders, pilots and other personnel, maintenance arrangements, funding/working capital, arrangements with peons and vendors, etc. for sustained revival. operations,” news agency year A DGCA official was quoted as saying.

On Friday, several aircraft lessors of GoFirst requested the Delhi High Court to cancel the registration of their planes by the DGCA so that they can take them back from the distressed airline. PTI mentioned in the report.

The lessees argued that the DGCA’s refusal to cancel the registration was “illegal”.

Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju listed the matter for May 30 to hear the arguments of the respondents.
