Banihal/Jammu: The Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed on Thursday Landslide Officials said more than 300 vehicles were stranded in Ramban district.
The landslide occurred in Shalgari area of ​​the district, which has been battered by rains, they said.
More than 300 vehicles were stranded at various places along the 270-km highway, the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir to the rest of the country, officials said.
They said work was on to reopen the highway to traffic but incessant rain in the Ramban-Banihal sector was proving to be a hindrance.
According to Ramban Deputy Commissioner’s Twitter handle, “Continuous firing of stones, slides blocking traffic near Shalgadi, Banihal. Arrangements have been made in shelter sheds for stranded passengers.”
Officials said people have been advised not to travel on the highway without the assurance of the traffic control unit.
